The Study Guide

Rapier Combat

Non Gallant Applicants may opt to demonstrate a competent defensive stance and attack using a standard SCA rapier. (The concern here is for technique, not power). Applicants will demonstrate the ability to inspect a rapier combatant's armour and weapons. (Warranted Senior Rapier Marshals are considered to have passed this portion of the trial)

Archery

Non Archery Yeomen Candidates may opt to show some basic familiarity with the care and usage of a bow. They should be able to shoot a 10 point Royal Round and shall have 3 attempts to do so. Applicants should be able to inspect a combat archer’s armour and weapons. (Warranted Senior Missle Combat Marshals are considered to have passed this portion of the trial)

Heavy Combat

Non Heavy Combat applicants should be able to demonstrate three basic shots on a pell-pole using a standard SCA sword or pole-weapon. (The concern here is for technique, not power). They should also be able to inspect an armoured combatant's armour and weapons. (Warranted Senior Armoured Marshals are considered to have passed this portion of the trial)

Thrown Weapons

Non Thrown Weapons Yeomen candidates may opt to demonstrate a basic familiarity with target Thrown Weapons. They should be able to score a 40 in Thrown Weapons Royal Rounds. (Warranted Senior Thrown Weapons Marshals are considered to have passed this portion of the trial)

Siege Combat

Non Siege Yeomen candidates may opt to demonstrate a basic familiarity with siege weapons. They should be able to load and fire a siege engine. (Warranted Senior Siege Marshals are considered to have passed this portion of the trial)
