It is meant to be something that anyone at the event can participate in. S omething small\, perhaps handmade\, unwrapped\, and anonymous\, that is pl aced on or under the tree when you are settled in. You will choose a gift towards the end of the evening.\nThe Yule chest is about putting in someth ing pretty special. At the end of the evening\, one name of an SCA member\ , attending the event\, will be drawn to take home all the treasures. In o rder to participate in this\, you must be a current member.\n\n \;\n\n BREAD CHALLENGE\n\n“Bread is the king of the table and all else is merel y the court that surrounds the king.” (The American novelist Louis Bromf ield)\nThere is a challenge here! Bake bread! There are three categories: medieval recipe\, gluten free\, and anything goes.\nBring the bread\, an i ngredient list\, and a short blurb on your creation by noon\, to the potlu ck area in the cafeteria.\nThere will be prizes.\n\n \;\n\nTHE HARTWOO D REVEL POTLUCK\n\nThere will be a potluck luncheon at Hartwood Revel this year. What are you passionate about in the time period of your p ersona? What have you explored and learned more about?\n\nThe competition consists of writing one paper on any historically based topic within the s cope of your SCA persona’s time period and country. The paper should be 3-4 pages long\, plus a bibliography of your sources. Your subject doesn ’t have to be something your persona would have owned or have done\, but something you would have known about your country and time period. For mo re information on what is required\, please email me at beatrisofhartwood@ gmail.com and I will send you a handout with all the requirements and some suggestions.\n\nThose wishing to enter must advise me no later than Octob er 31st with their intent to enter and the subject (including time period and country) of your entry.
